Why we're here
Perishables don't wait. A load leaves the dock and the clock is already running: on quality, on the market, on the money. The software and financing underneath this industry haven't kept up with modern technology and payment rails.
So the workarounds pile up. Invoices get keyed in twice. AP chases paper across three systems. A supplier waits a month to get paid on a load that had a week of shelf life. And a question that should be simple, which customers are profitable at this FOB, how much of our AR is past due and to whom, turns into an afternoon of exporting, merging, and pivoting, with an answer nobody fully trusts.
None of that is a technology problem anymore. It just hasn't been built for this industry yet.
“Giving suppliers a clear liquidity option made the conversation about choice, not chasing a special exception.”
What we believe
Money should move at the speed of the product.
Payment terms were written for goods that can sit in a warehouse until someone gets around to paying. Perishables can't. When a supplier ships something with a ten-day life and waits forty-five days to get paid, that gap ends up costing everyone in the chain.
Keep the systems that work.
Good software has mostly shown up here as rip-and-replace, and no operator in peak season is going to pull out the system the whole business runs on. We'd rather fit what's already in the building. If your ERP is doing its job, keep it.
The person with the question should get the answer.
Not by filing a request with IT, or waiting on next month's report, or rebuilding the same pivot one more time. Just ask, in plain language, in English or Spanish, on whatever device is already in your hand.
Perishable isn't the same as risky.
These businesses are harder to underwrite with models built for durable goods. A receivable on something that spoils doesn't fit the shape those models expect, so it gets priced as risk or passed over altogether. We think that's a solvable problem, and we'd rather solve it than price around it.
A few points decide the season.
Margins here are thin enough that small friction changes the outcome of a year. Every dollar spent moving money, chasing paper, or waiting on a bank is a dollar that doesn't go back into the crew, the equipment, or the next load.
Who's behind Payve
- Jeff ButlerCo-founder & CEO
- Alex ArcherCo-founder & COO
We founded Payve in 2025 after spending four years working inside perishable supply chains at Silo, alongside growers, shippers, and distributors, running into the same problems our customers describe to us today.
Before that, we spent our careers building financing for businesses that banks found hard to underwrite: Jeff at Amazon and CircleUp, Alex at Kabbage and AmEx. Different industries, same shape of problem: good companies, real receivables, and a credit model that couldn't see them clearly. Silo is where we saw that problem show up in perishables, and where we found each other.
We started the company because the technology finally caught up. For the first time, the operations side and the financial side can be solved together, in the same place, instead of one at a time. We build by working backwards from our customers, in an industry that's among the largest and most important on earth and one of the least served by good technology. We'd like to change that.
Who's behind us
Payve is backed by Convoi Ventures, Sormano, W Capital, AckerTech, KJT Ventures, and a group of angel investors we're lucky to have.

The people who feed the rest of us should have tools that work as hard as they do.
A 30-minute walkthrough with your systems in mind. No rip and replace, nothing to install.
